History with a future
When Max Töpfer founded his company in Böhlen near Leipzig in 1911, he was the first manufacturer of therapeutic food for infants in Germany. He developed his products in close cooperation with doctors and already then, they satisfied the highest hygienic and technical standards. In 1923, Töpfer GmbH relocated to its present location of Dietmannsried in Allgäu, since, in the eyes of the owner, the quality of the raw materials, i.e. of the milk, was no longer sufficient at the old location in Leipzig.
Töpfer therefore took the logical step and settled in the middle of nature.
Up to the present day, innovations have shaped the destiny of the company ranging from the development of rice gruel to the milk-free infant formula Lactopriv, the well-known Töpfer bran powder bath (Kleiebad), the infant formula Lactana, different grain cereals up to the introduction of infant formulas with LC-PUFAs. Not to forget the introduction of the care series Babycare in the year 2007.
In 1958, the Gabler family took over business shares of the company and thus, the high claim to quality.
Lactana® was further developed and since 1989, production in Dietmannsried has been consistently governed by organic standards. In this way, Töpfer has remained true to itself for over 100 years. The standard of quality has grown over the years just as has the responsibility towards the environment and the obligations towards our customers.
